INTERFAITH VIGIL AGAINST VIOLENCE
The “Interfaith Vigil Against Violence” will bring together clergy, faith-based practitioners, faith-based administrators and their congregations to participate in a collaborative, strategic planning session to create and initiate faith-based solutions to violence in the community. Creating supportive community partnerships is a major component of our program. We hope you would accept this opportunity to serve your community by partnering with us in this effort to support families in your community.

BUILDING POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS WITH POLICE
Improving relations between police and urban communities is part of the Violence Prevention Consortium's concerted effort to facilitate community-oriented policing in police departments and communities throughout Chicagoland.

The current relationship between urban youth and police has been described as negative by community and police leaders. Common problems in the relationship have included a lack of trust, racial and cultural differences, little or no contact, except through police responding to crime-related incidents, and high levels of anger, fear, and hostility between the two groups.
