We Are
BLACK MEN
BLACK MEN address institutional racism in areas that include housing, education, employment and finances. Meetings focus on self-advocacy and rebuilding in the face of oppressive rules and policies. Mentor young people in local after-school youth programs, faith-based institutions and the community.
Community
Assist in neighborhood outreach to young people at risk. Build positive relationships in the community, participate in community leadership and violence prevention training, help families to connect with community resources, attend school functions and events, and participate in public responses to violence.
Schools
Education and Academic Support identifying challenges that affect the education of BLACK youth in our community. Actively pursue solutions that will help BLACK children take advantage and have access to all educational opportunities.
Crime and Safety
Act as liaisons between community and law enforcement. Identify methods for deterring crime among “high risk” youth and give direction and insight for programs and services.
Economic Development
Lead the drive to advance BLACK families. Develop partnerships with employers, job programs and businesses. Work with the Business Alliances and Chamber of Commerce, civic organizations and others on employment related activities. Encourage and support entrepreneurship and BLACK owned businesses in the community.
